Bernard "Buddy" Barrett

Buddy Barrett lived with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Barrett at 220 Grand River Street North in Paris. He was the eldest of 10 children. He was a popular boy, whose interests centred around Sacred Heart Church and School. He enjoyed playing tennis and Hockey, and while convalescing from a knee injury, took up stamp collecting.

Bernard enlisted with the Lorne Scots in May 1941 and went overseas in June of the same year. He was killed in action during the Sicilian campaign in 1943.

Bernard is buried in the Agira Canadian War Cemetery is located in Agira, Sicily, Italy, and serves as the final resting place for 490 Canadians who died during the Sicily campaign in World War II. It is a well-maintained, scenic cemetery chosen in September 1943 to consolidate the graves of Canadian soldiers killed on the island. The cemetery can be found on a hill in the heart of Sicily.
