4 William Street
Private Walter Barrett
Walter’s family lived at 4 William Street in Paris. He was a textile worker at 16 years of age when he enlisted at the Paris Armoury during WWII. He enlisted with C Company of the Dufferin and Haldimand Rifles.
However, Walter had meanwhile transferred and served one year with the 185th Battalion, a Nova Scotia Regiment. Very little is known of his life following the war. He is buried in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Paris.
