Flight Lieutenant Lawrence Gillies

Lawrence Elliot “Larry” Gillies was born in 1915 in Paris. He was the son of William Elliot Gillies and Annie Adelina Hogarth and grew up at 61 Jane Street. In the Second World War, he enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force, specializing in radar equipment. After the war, he married Jemima Swanson “Mamie” Sutherland of Paris and operated a radio and television repair business. The couple had one son who moved to Ecuador. Larry died at 95 years of age and is buried in the Paris Cemetery.
