107 Guelph St
Patricia Mae Bayliss (McCutcheon)

Patricia was born in Acton on the “Crescent” on May 26, 1926 and lived her entire life in Acton.
The 1931 Census places Benjamin (WW1), Ada and their children, George (WW2) Dorothy and Patricia at 107 Guelph St, Acton which was to later be renamed Poplar Ave…part of the “Crescent”.
Patricia enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy on February 7, 1945 with HMCS Peregrine, Land Base. As WREN # 6726, she served in Canada during World War II as a wardroom attendant. She was discharged on March 26, 1945. The 1949 Voters List shows Patricia living at home with her parents Benjamin and Ada and her brother George…at that time Patricia was employed as a “glover”.
Patricia married Gord McCutcheon (WW2) and the couple had four children, Carol, Nancy, Beth and Janet. In the early 1960’s, Pat, Gord and their four children were reported to be living at 69 Nelson Court, Acton. For several years in the mid 1990’s, the Canadian Phone and Address Directory places Pat and Gord at 12 Gould Cres., Acton.
Patricia passed away January 16, 2024 at the age of 97. She is buried with Gord at Fairview Cemetery in Acton. Truly a Canadian Hero. Her story lives on.
