Corporal Frank Edward Arthur “Ted” Jenner
Ted was born in Paris in 1921, the son of William and Elizabeth Jenner, who lived at 2 John Street (now John Ave). He completed his schooling in Paris schools. He was a good athlete, particularly in hockey and lacrosse. Ted was also interested in the Cadet Corps. After he completed his education, he was employed for a time at Woods and Tinknell. He was a member of St. James Anglican Church.
Ted enlisted with the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry in April 1940. He trained in Hamilton and Camp Borden before shipping overseas in time to participate in the Allied raid on Dieppe.
At one point, Ted was mistakenly reported missing in action, but he survived to continue fighting, only to die in service to his country in Normandy on July 26, 1944.
At the battle of Verrieres, his unit captured the village and held it against fierce German opposition. Cpl Jenner was seriously wounded and died of his injuries the following day.
Ted was 23 years old, he is buried in the Beny-Sur-Mer Canadian War Cemetery.
