Guardsman Terrence George Moriarity
Terrence was born in Paris in 1924, the son of William Patrick and Mary Fitzpatrick Moriarity. The family lived at 56 Ball Street and were members of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where Terrence was an altar boy. He joined the Boy Scouts. As he got older, he took an interest in dancing and collected jazz records. After completing his schooling, he was employed at Penman’s Limited and for a short while, worked at Cockshutt Plow Company.
In 1943, when Terrance was just 17 years of age, he enlisted with the 21st Armed Regiment of the Governor General’s Foot Guards. He went overseas in 1944 and had gone into action in December 1944. Terrence was killed in action near Holten, Netherlands.
Terrence is buried in the Holten Canadian War Cemetery, one of 1,355 Canadian soldiers buried at that site.
