Leading Aircraftwoman Shirley E. Riddell
Shirley was born in Paris in 1923, the eldest of James and Mary Riddell’s four children. The family lived at 47 St. Andrew Street.
She enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force during the Second World War and served as a Leading Aircraftwoman.
Following the war, she married Wayne Straw, of Harrisburg, who also served during the war. In the 1970s, Shirley worked as a school teacher in Etobicoke. Her husband died in 1985 and is buried in Harrisburg. Shirley lived to 85 years of age and is buried in the Paris Cemetery.
