53 Queen Street
Leslie Carlyle Graham
Reginald Graham and Elizabeth Stevens raised a family of five boys and three girls in their home at 53 Queen Street in Paris. Reg was lured to Paris by Wincey Mill in 1897 to play hockey for the company team. Before professional hockey leagues, industrial hockey was a very popular sport. Four of five Graham brothers served in the Canadian military during the Second World War. The fifth was too young to serve.
The eldest brother was Leslie Carlyle Graham. During the war, he served as Regimental Sergeant Major. He was responsible for training troops before they went overseas. He was stationed at various times in British Columbia, Welland Ontario, Sussex New Brunswick, and in England, at the Military College. After the victory in Europe, he entered training in Scotland at the UK commando school in preparation for the planned invasion of Japan. But after Japan’s surrender, he returned home to Paris and to his wife Margaret and their two children.
