Durwood Midgley
Durwood Midgley, was born in 1923. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force and rose to the rank of Flight Lieutenant.
He was the youngest pilot in his 1942 graduating class. He flew Lancaster Bombers, and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, “a medal awarded to officers and warrant officers in the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) for acts of valor, courage, or devotion to duty while flying in active operations against the enemy.” He had the additional honour of receiving his medal directly from King George VI.
After the war, he lived at 21 Capron Street.
