Herbert Monteith

Herbert enlisted with his twin brother, John “Todd” Monteith, while they were still students at Paris District High School. The Monteiths, a respected family in Paris, lived in the 1840 cobblestone house built by Levi Boughton at 16 Broadway Street. Their father, Andrew Herbert Monteith, was a Lieutenant Colonel in WWI and became a prosperous lawyer.

Both brothers enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force, and both brothers became pilots. They received training at St. Hubert, Trenton, Mount Hope, Hagersville and Camp Borden.

Herbert survived the war and became a doctor.
