Stanley Stewart

Stanley Stewart was the younger Stewart brother to serve in the Second World War. Son of Sydney A. Stewart and his wife Matilda May Harvey. The Stewart family was living at 41 Mechanic Street during the time of the Second World War. We know little of Stanley’s early life, but during WW2, he enlisted with the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry. His regiment was part of the Royal Canadian Infantry Corps which took part in the D-Day invasion.

Private Stanley Stewart was 19 years old when died of wound received in action. He died on the 9th of July 1944. He is buried at the Beny-Sur-Mer Canadian War Cemetery in Normandy.
