Sydney Stewart, older brother of Stanley, was born in Suffolk, England in 1922. The family, including Sydney, Stanley and five other children, had immigrated to Canada, living first on Willow Street, then at 41 Mechanic Street at the time of WW2.
Sydney was a mechanic press operator before he enlisted in July, 1943. Sydney rose to the rank of Corporal, he served with the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry in Belgium, Holland, and Germany. He received two medals for his service, the 1939-1945 Star and the France and Germany Star.
After the war, he married Doris Marie England, who was born in London England but was living in Paris at the time. They had two daughters, Jane and Merle. Sydney Stewart died at the age of 65 years and is buried with Doris in the Paris Cemetery.
