Bernard Charles Gibbons and Sarah Jesson had three sons who fought in World War Two, along with an older daughter. All three sons were born in Bulwell, in Nottinghamshire England. The family immigrated to Canada in 1920. The family lived at 9 Spruce Street during the war.
Thomas Alfred Gibbons was born in 1913 and was 5 years old when the family immigrated. He trained as an accountant before joining the Royal Canadian Navy and served as a Paymaster for the Navy during the war. He married Catherine Ann Santoro of Detroit, Michigan in 1953 and lived in the United States for the rest of his life. He died in 1976 at the age of 62 and is buried in Flat Rock, Michigan.
