15 Railway Street

Trooper George Eldred Watts

The Watts family lived at 15 Railway Street. Oliver and Florence May Watts had nine sons, and six of them served in the Second World War.

The next brother to go overseas was Trooper George Eldred Watts, born in 1914. He was a married textile worker with a pregnant wife, Jean Lorena Ferguson, and a baby girl when he went overseas. That daughter was born during the war, and three sons and a daughter followed afterward. George served in the Elgin Infantry Regiment. He returned to Paris after the war and worked for the Paris Department of Public Works. George died at the age of 46 and is buried in Paris.
